The Bow is the most basic ranged weapon that you can craft. Majority of the bows are made out of 7 of their representative material, except the Demon Bow (which requires 8) and the Molten Fury (which requires 25). The Bow can use a variety of Arrows that you either craft, find in pots or chests, or gather from enemy drops.
Introduced in 1.1, Repeaters are an enhancement on the Bow class of weapon. They're similar to bows except that they can automatically fire their arrows by holding down the attack button. Bows also relate to Thrown Weapons, as they are ranged weapons too.
There are currently seven (eight in Console V.) versions of the Bow:
- Wooden Bow
- Copper Bow
- Iron Bow
- Silver Bow
- Golden Bow
- Demon Bow
- Molten Fury
- Sharanga (Console Only)
There are four (five in Console V.) versions of the Repeater:
- Cobalt Repeater
- Mythril Repeater
- Adamantite Repeater
- Hallowed Repeater
- Vulcan Repeater (Console Only)
The total damage of a shot fired from a bow is calculated by adding the Bow's damage to the Arrow's damage, and then applying any available bonuses from other equipment and/or buffs. Arrows travel in an arc shape and begin to drop after they've travelled about 12 blocks from where they were fired. Arrows can also pass through platforms you've built, making it possible to shoot at monsters safely from above or below.
Notes
Edit
- The highest damage that can be dealt with a Repeater as of 1.1 is 64.17 (Hallowed Repeater (39) with Cursed Arrow (14), Archery Potion (+20% arrow damage) and Ranger Emblem (+15% total damage)).
- The highest damage that can be dealt with a Bow as of 1.1 is 52.67 (Molten Fury (29) with Cursed Arrow (14), Archery Potion (+20% arrow damage) and Ranger Emblem (+15% total damage)).
