The Celestial Towers are the four towers (or pillars) that spawn in after the Lunatic Cultist is killed, in a stage of the world dubbed the Lunar Events. They can spawn in extremely inconvenient spots that are pre-determined, such as above your house. They spawn in unique enemies. Each tower has 10,000 health, but deal no damage of their own. The minions spawned from the towers will attack you, however. You have to kill 100 pillar-exclusive enemies to lower the shield protecting the pillar before you can actually damage it. Upon destroying all of the towers, the message "Impending doom approaches..." will appear at the bottom of your screen, the music will fade to nothing and, after approximately 1 minute, the Moon Lord will be summoned. Each tower has their own exclusive background. The four pillars are:

Nebula Pillar

The Nebula Pillar is representative of the Magic User play style. Enemies here specialize in magical attacks, debuffs, and teleportation. When within its influence, the world turns pink.

Solar Pillar

The Solar Pillar is representative of the Melee play style. Enemies here specialize in fast charging attacks, mobility denial (particularly, air superiority), and defense. The pillar itself features its own attack, launching fireballs from its "top" which deal massive damage if they land on the player. When within its influence, the world turns yellow-orange and fireballs are visible in the background.

Stardust Pillar

The Stardust Pillar is representative of the Summoner play style. Enemies here specialize in debuffs and crowd attacks (i.e. multiplying on death). When within its influence, the world turns blue and twinkling stars appear.

Vortex Pillar

The Vortex Pillar is representative of the Ranger play style. Enemies here specialize in ranged weapon attacks, deflection of player ammunition (sometimes back at the player), and mobility denial. When within its influence, the world turns teal.

Strategies/Tips

  • The Solar Pillar and Nebula Pillar are considered the hardest pillars, as the Solar Pillar swarms with aggressive enemies and is pretty much guaranteed to kill you if you fly and the Nebula Pillar spawns enemies with nasty debuff capabilities and teleportation powers.
  • It may be wise to create small bases with Beds across the world before triggering the event, as setting the spawn point inside the sphere of influence (or outside, if one spawns in town) can be helpful.
  • In Expert Mode, all enemies receive a stat boost, the kill count goes up to 150, and the pillar health increases.
  • Leaving a world resets the count of kills toward de-shielding a pillar.
