Most notably, the Corruptor has a powerful projectile attack known as Vile Spit, which has the capability to spread The Corruption upon contact with blocks such as dirt, sand and stone as well as inflict players with the Weak debuff. For this reason, players may wish to kill it as quickly as possible or otherwise avoid fighting it in corruptible environments. Fortunately, the projectile itself is destructible with any weapon (it has 1 HP), so it may be eliminated before it causes any damage to the player or the environment.
Like many Hard Mode enemies, the Corruptor can still pose a threat even to players with the best defensive equipment. Powerful ranged weapons are advised for dispatching it with maximum speed and minimal risk.
Beware: Vile Spit spreads The Corruption to most blocks, thus spawning more Corruptors, creating a corrupt world very quickly. If you don't want a corrupt world, create multiple worlds. One where you have Hard Mode active to collect all the new items, and another where your world is pre-Hard Mode, but with all the Hard Mode items sent over. In this way you don't have to start again on a corrupt world.
Another way to deal with them is to spread Hallow across your world, you should remove all the corruption on a pre-Hard Mode world with dynamite (faster, more expensive) or a drill (slower, but no money spent), then place pearlstone everywhere on the map, and as soon as you defeat the Wall of Flesh, the pearlstone will spread, stopping the corruption in its tracks.
A cheap way to prevent these horrors from spreading The Corruption is to make a tall unscalable tower of about 50 blocks in height. This will prevent corruption from spreading past the towers and stop Corruptors from flying over it. Dart Traps may be placed on the walls to shoot enemies down and prevent thorns creeping over.

Trivia
Edit
- The Corruptor may be inspired by a Zerg air unit of the same name and similar characteristics in the popular real-time strategy game Starcraft II.
Bugs
Edit
- The Corruptor may glitch where the body will look like 2 Corruptors glued together (This mostly happens in Dimly lit places), however this is only a graphical glitch.
Update Info
Edit
- Added to the game.
