Dryad does not sell worm teeth during blood moons, she sells corrupt seeds. Basically Grass is swapped for corrupt seeds, and cleansing powder is swapped for vile powder.

Changed requirements in 1.0.6?

I created a new character & new (large) world after 1.0.6 was released. I've killed the Eye of Cthulhu twice now, once from a trigger based spawn & once from using a suspicious looking eye to spawn it. I have 5 NPC houses plus my own but even though I've played many days since the last EoC kill, the Dryad still hasn't spawned. The 4 NPC's I have (Guide, Merchant, Nurse & Demolitionist) move between the 5 houses each night so they are all definitely available as houses & my own house has a workbench, bed & light sources which also fulfil the house requirements (I had to deconstruct the workbench to get the merchant to move). Is it possible her requirements have been stealth changed for 1.0.6 or could it just be a random bug? --Malibu Stacey 00:29, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

No, just because you see it there doesn't mean it's a reference from it. You'll need actual proof like a dev quote. More Bark Than Bite

Apparently, a dryad is a part tree, part human creature from Greek mythology. So the quote about more bark than bite is a reference to her very nature. In fact, the word "dryad" comes from the Greek word for oak, dryos.

Jungle Grass Seeds in the Jungle?

Requirements wrong - costume, pumpkin seeds and more

I have a 1.2 pre hard mode world with the dryad and she is not selling and haven't seen her selling as far as I can remember:

• Pumpkin seeds
• Dryad coverings
• Dryad Loincloth

Corruption and crimson

I created an artificial corruption in a world with the crimson, and after hardmode started, my dryad said "<Name of world> is 8% hallow, 1% corrupt, and 12% crimson. You have a lot of work to do." I think this is worth noting, so I'm adding it. Jjman740 (talk) 23:24, 24 July 2014 (UTC)

Possible Percentage Bug?

I purified the entire surface of my world(all of it was hallow/corrupt), and a few large chunks of the underground as well. The dryads percentages stayed the same. I would think that I purified at least ONE percent of the world.. 73.183.107.198 21:15, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

Reported an Xbox 360 bug with the Lizarhd Altar

I had created a new world (to hopefully get a Picksaw drop from the Golem), and stumbled upon the Lizarhd dungeon. I collected the Power Cells, and decided to activate it (the Altar) at a distance (whole screen distance) using a Magical Harp. This however, did not physically spawn the Golem, and expended a Power Cell. I then activated it closer, and it worked. See where I'm getting at? Longer than tool range on Lizarhd Altar= No Golem and spent Power Cell. Hopefully you guy's manage to fix this bug. Thx in advance. Edit: I apologize for this being unrelated to the discussion at the time.

Shiverthorn and Waterleaf Planter Boxes

Is it with complete certainty that both the Shiverthorn and Waterleaf Planter Boxes are Always available? I have the Dryad on my new world and right now she is only selling the Blinkroot Planter Box (I have only defeated the Eye of Cthulhu). Names (trivia)

I'd like to add some probable references to trivia for a number of the Dryad's names (yes, yes, I know, references and all that) so thought I'd best throw them up here first rather than get insta-reverted (hi Gearzein :) )

A Dryad is a nature spirit from Greek mythology, generally depicted as a beautiful young woman. Fittingly, many of the Dryad's possible names take inspiration from either Greek myths or female celebrities.

(I guess I could just add this sentence and safely be done with it.)

For trivia's sake, here are what I consider the most likely inspirations:

Pretty sure of:

• Alalia - Battle of Alalia
• Elysia - the Elysian Fields
• Chryseis - Chryseis, Trojan trophy-captive from the Iliad (cf. Troius & Cressida)
• Caelia - Caelia, fairy queen in Tom a Lincoln

Less sure of (more along the lines of 'where they may have heard the name' and/or 'I don't know who this is but there's a picture of a pretty girl attached to it' and/or 'I think this is right but don't really want to put it on the page'):

• Ariella - UK fashion house
• Calista - Sounds Greek-ish but more likely Calista Flockhart...
• Celestia - It probably really was inspired by MLP, even if not a direct reference
• Evvie - Evvy
• Faye - I'd like to say it's based on 'Fae' but honestly it's more likely the singer
• Nissa - Nyssa, cf 'Gregory of...' and the Doctor Who companion
• Rosalva - Rosalva Luna
• Shea - Either Shae from Game of Thrones or shea butter (beauty product ingredient)...
• Tatiana - Maslany?
• Xylia - Baby-name sites have it as a modern name based on Greek "of the forest" (cf Sylvia), which seems likely. Also a webcomic.

(The most prominent bearer of the name Alura, according to Google, is a porn star, and 'Caelia' likewise brings up a particular girl on Google Images; I suspect they're the actual inspiration but there's no way I'm putting that on a family-friendly page.) -- SDGlyph (talk) 12:51, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

Hello! Welcome to the proper way to cite trivia.

While you've already made a decision regarding this, I will say that my main concern would be the length of it, as the intention is to cut down on the size of trivia sections as well. Summing it up in one sentence is probably for the best, though a few individual examples wouldn't exactly hurt. A few of the "less sure" might be a little too obscure to be taken at face value, and entries could definitely be trimmed, but I'd say that wikipedia articles to historic figures with the same name are generally solid proof (though my main concern then is that they're not "inspiration" so much as they "showed up in a <character type> name generator").

I wouldn't insert most of these as specific examples [hate to be a wet blanket -- it's rare that Gearzein actually likes trivia :) ]. Although this provides evidence of a name's roots, there's little or no indication that most of these are intended references on the part of the developer. I don't think we want to list roots of most names on NPC pages, unless there are specific overwhelming correlations, for instance classic wizards on the Wizard page. Xylia, Faye (Fae), and Caelia are the only ones that would pass this test, from where I'm standing (relating to classic elemental fairies). Equazcion ^(talk) 15:02, 17 Jul 2015 (UTC)
