Mothron is an enemy from the Solar Eclipse event. It can only spawn after all Mechanical Bosses are defeated.

Notes

• It spawns much more rarely than other Solar Eclipse enemies.
• It has the ability to go through blocks and fly.
• When Mothron reaches you it will stay on top of you doing damage every second if you stand still.
• Mothron makes it much harder to design an AFK farm for the Solar Eclipse as it takes no knockback and goes through blocks.
• Mothron will lay several Mothron Eggs that spawn Baby Mothrons. Killing these eggs before they hatch will stop them from spawning.
• Broken Hero Sword and The Eye of Cthulhu item drops are mutually exclusive, i.e. there is 25% chance for either item and 50% chance for none of them.

Trivia

• Mothron is a reference to Mothra from the namesake 1961 movie.

• Mothron's name also follows the trend of Terraria enemies' and bosses' names ending with the suffix -ron, such as Skeletron, Duke Fishron, and Pigron.
