The Deadly Sphere Staff is a Hardmode, post-Plantera minion-summoning weapon that summons a Deadly Sphere character to fight on the player's behalf. The Deadly Sphere flies continuously and charges at enemies to inflict damage. It cannot attack through blocks. The Deadly Sphere has several visual forms, which it periodically transforms between after it attacks 3 times, though this has no functional effect. The Deadly Sphere Staff is dropped by Deadly Spheres during a Solar Eclipse.

As with most summoning weapons, the Deadly Sphere Staff's best modifier is Mythical, since it gives the most damage. The Mythical modifier, while useful, is not the most practical because the reduced mana effect changes little and minions cannot critically hit. It could also be argued that less knockback may increase damage over time.

Trivia

• Like the enemy that drops it, this item is a reference to the 1979 film, Phantasm.
• The staff may appear with the Deadly Modifier, resulting in the humorous name "Deadly Deadly Sphere Staff."
