The Suspicious Looking Eye reacting to a Gold Chest and Blue Slime.

Not to be confused with the Suspicious Looking Eye, an unrelated boss-summoning item.

The Suspicious Looking Tentacle is an Expert Mode Light Pet summoning item. It summons a small tentacled eye (called the "Suspicious Looking Eye", but unrelated to the boss-summon item) that provides light and follows the player. It is dropped by the Moon Lord's Treasure Bag in Expert Mode.

In addition to providing light, the Eye senses nearby enemies (15-20 block radius), treasure, and ores. This is shown via its pupil and iris pointing in the direction of the item sensed, as well as expanding for treasure, and contracting for enemies. The Eye also displays a glittering effect near ores and treasure.

Notes

  • As of 1.3.0.1, the Suspicious Looking Tentacle is one of the two Light Pets that provides the most light, the other being Wisp in a Bottle. The Suspicious Looking Tentacle is better than the Wisp in a Bottle because it exposes nearby treasure and nearby enemies while not going too far from the player.
  • However, the Suspicious Looking Tentacle is not as maneuverable as the Wisp in a Bottle, hugging the player much of the time and lacking the Wisps ability to move around the screen based on the players direction button input, in favor of the aforementioned ability to point out treasure and enemies.

Trivia

  • It is the only expert-exclusive item that doesn't have the Rainbow rarity, and is not marked as an Expert item.
  • The tooltip "I know what you're thinking..." likely references the fact that other items with the "Suspicious Looking" qualifier are summoning items for bosses.
