Merging a few pages into this one (or to Block)

There are quite a few candidates for merging together:

  • Soils
  • Ores and Special Blocks

I do not know the protocol for merging, so I'm making a Talk for it.--Ragen 00:02, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Are bars blocks?

Bars are listed here as blocks, but they are not placeable and function as items and not blocks. Should they be removed? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wipeout4wh (talkcontribs)

I think, they should. Gamecreator 21:05, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
Should be removed. [[iLiaWneK|talk|contributions]]  22:14, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
Same here. A block is placeable. Ores are, bars aren't. --NullTalk 01:21, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

Ore and wood images

Am I the only one who is bothered that the images for the ores and wood are for the items themselves and not the blocks? It would be convenient to have a preview of that on this page, but as far as I know of those images haven't been uploaded to the wiki. Is there anyone knowledgeable enough to rip those sprites from the game or will I have to take a screenshot and crop it? I'm not very good with wikis and I'm not sure how to do this.

If the sprites already ARE uploaded and I'm not looking hard enough, then point me in the right direction :P --206.125.70.210 23:37, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

Well, item icons are easy. Tile sprites are… sprites. Wood blocks have a modest 60 different appearances, depending on adjacent blocks and a random number generator, while Gold Ore has 201. I guess you could consistently extract one of the "single block, no adjacent tiles" variants, but you won't usually find grass or Hellstone tiles floating on their own in the game. --Lunboks 00:18, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
Alright, I managed to get some of the images to look a little more consistent with some screenshots and work in GIMP. I'd do them all but I don't have all the materials in my game yet so I'll have to do that later :<
Also, sorry for the changelog spam, I had to reupload the images. -Anabunbun 01:08, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
You could use the actual game sprites, still. Null has a sort of guide for extracting them (and a download link) on his user page. --Lunboks 01:21, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Explosive categories

See: Talk:Explosives_(class)#No_grades_in_explosives_in_1.1.

Gems

While not placeable in their block form after they've been collected, gems are naturally found as blocks and in my opinion should be listed on here. --Tiwuno 02:53, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Any other renewable Blocks ?

Wood and sand are known to me, any others? I mean getting it without digging, crafting or travel to another world.

Not a direct answer to your question, but I started a Guide:Replenishable resources if anyone else can think of others. --Sinister Stairs 21:32, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
Snow Block, Candy Cane Block and Green Candy Cane Block, because they are monster drops. Ebonsand and Pearlstone, because you can use sand+corruption/hallow to create those. Obsidian, because of infinite water/lava bug/feature. Meteorite, because its a monster drop and and you can use another renewable block to build a skybridge to catch meteorites. Demonite Ore, because its a monster drop (and resources needed to craft summon items are renewable, however this involves crafting). --Icke 11:31, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

table

should have an additional column ranking the "hardness" numerically to make it easier to sort by tier --Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.38.217.116 (talkcontribs)

Page Revamp

Much like with Wall, I'm planning a page revamp complete with the merging of Soils into this page and a new page image with block textures. The revamp in progress will be found at User:Crystallized/Blocks until I'm ready to replace this page with it. It will probably take longer than the Wall revamp did, but please let me know if you have any comments or ideas. --Crystallized (talk) 16:05, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

I decided to finish the revamp myself, mainly using your model. Though it was arguably impolite of me to use your work to finish one of your projects, I still decided to do so after getting the impression it'd take you some time do finish it on your own. As such, my edit is as much to prevent your efforts from going to waste as to update the article. I appreciate your work very much and think the article looks quite good now, so I hope you don't mind. NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 04:44, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

Adding a Corruptible Column to the Table

I've been looking for a list of blocks that can be corrupted - for an easy "Is this safe?" check - and haven't been able to find one. I think it would be beneficial to add another column to the tables titled "Corruptible", with a check mark if yes and an X if no, like the other columns. That way, people don't have to hunt all over the wiki for individual block pages that may or may not say whether they're corruptible or not.

Dirt, Stone, Sand - I know can be corrupted.

Crafted bricks - I know can't be corrupted.

What about, for example, Active/Inactive Stone Blocks?— Preceding unsigned comment added by 12:48, 8 July 2014‎ (UTC (talkcontribs) at Stargazingkat

This is actually a pretty good idea, I'd say go ahead and add it to the table! Active/inactive stone can't be corrupted, by the way. --Xolroc (talk) 14:40, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

I'm likewise optimistic about a function which easily provides popular info, however I'm not sure if a column in every list is needed. The thing is, only "soil" blocks are corruptable (or convertable, rather). As such it might be a better idea to simply add this info in the Soils paragraph, and perhaps add clarifying notes on any other questionable blocks (such as Active/Inactive Stone Blocks). What do you think? NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 02:18, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

Block preview tweaks

I think that a block preview image should have its background removed to look something like this. What do you think? --5.172.252.223 21:58, 9 November 2014 (UTC)

Yes. I uploaded it, hope you don't mind :) Thanks for your work, awesome job. PS. If you didn't want someone else uploading this let me know and I'll revert it. Equazcion (talk) 22:12, 9 Nov 2014 (UTC)
