Player using the Xenopopper. Note the trajectory of the bullets relative to the cursor's position.

The Xenopopper is a Hardmode, post-Golem gun. It is dropped by the Martian Saucer boss during the Martian Madness event.

The Xenopopper uses bullets as ammunition, firing a small cloud of four to five bubbles per shot. The bubbles themselves do no damage and will bounce off solid blocks. These bubbles will pop after a short delay, firing bullets (one per bubble) that converge at the cursor's current location. (The targeting effect is similar to that of the Lunar Flare.)

The Xenopopper could be considered a variation of the shotgun-type guns. In this case, its increased accuracy comes at the cost of lag. This makes it perhaps more suited for single targets rather than area crowd control, depending on players' targeting skills.

The Xenopopper's best Modifier is Unreal.

Notes

  • Each cloud of 4 bubbles costs just one bullet, making the gun quite ammo-efficient.
  • Might be a reference to Cave Story's "Bubbler."
  • May be a reference to Team fortress 2's "Soda Popper," as they both have the same color scheme, and both shoot a spread of bullets.

Tips

  • Chlorophyte Bullets are recommended as they're effective against quick moving enemies and useful for crowd control.

Trivia

  • The prefix "Xeno" means "foreign/different in origin", relating to aliens.
  • Could be a reference to the Alien series, where the main antagonists are an alien race known as Xenomorphs.
