Jungle Grass Seeds are a semi-rare drop from the plants in the Underground Jungle and Surface Jungle. They can be placed on mud blocks to create an artificial underground jungle and are acquired by destroying grass grown on a jungle grass Mud Block with any weapon or tool that can cut it. These seeds can also be a drop from Man Eaters. The grass may take a long time to grow. The seeds seem to drop faster and easier the closer you are to the surface of the Jungle.

Green Dye can be created using 1 bottle and 3 Jungle Grass Seeds; this dye can then be used to make the hero outfit.

Growing an artificial Jungle on the surface can be helpful as Trees spawn on the grass on their own providing a constant source of Wood without having to replant the Trees . However it should be noted that for trees to grow the grass must be allowed to grow as well since there are no "planted" saplings.

A good strategy to getting jungle grass seeds is to destroy the Jungle grass while walking around in the Underground Jungle ; making a "farm" to cut the Seeds is usually an inefficient strategy due to the low drop rate. You can also connect mud blocks to existing jungle mud and allow the grass to spread naturally.

Jungle grass can grow jungle spores so Underground Jungles can be used to make rose farms, very similar to mushroom and glowing mushroom farms. Jungle grass will need sunlight to spread, much like regular grass, but, as of 1.0.5, Jungle Spores only grow Below, at the Rock Layer. With the changes to the Jungle Roses in 1.0.6, they have been known to grow near the surface. The Orb of Light, when in proximity of transplanted Jungle Grass, will let it spread.

As of patch 1.0.5, Mud Block might fall and damage the player, similar to Ash. When planted on Mud Block, Jungle Grass prevents it from falling.

As of patch 1.0.6, Ash and Mud no longer fall due to gravity.
