Keybrand (demo) (old)

The Keybrand attacking a Target Dummy.

The Keybrand is a Hardmode, post-Plantera weapon. It has a 0.5*1/200 (0.5%) / 0.75*1/133 (0.75%) chance of being dropped by Blue Armored Bones, Hell Armored Bones, and Rusty Armored Bones in the post-Plantera Dungeon.

In the Remix Seed, the Keybrand can be sold by the Traveling Merchant in pre-Hardmode; However, it will only deal 15 base damage.

The Keybrand deals increased damage against previously injured enemies. When hitting enemies that have less than 10% health remaining, it deals a maximum of 150% additional damage for a total of 250%. Striking any enemy with the Keybrand will cause a sparkling visual effect.

Its best modifier is Legendary.

Notes[]

(This means, for every 1% of the enemy's health missing, the damage will be increased by \frac{1}{60}.)
  • If the hit enemy has less than 10% HP: \mathit{Damage} \times 2
  • in Remix world, the Keybrand has a base damage of 15 and is sold by the Traveling Merchant

Tips[]

  • The Keybrand's ability to do more damage against previously injured targets makes it an exceptionally good choice against slow-moving, high-health targets such as Nailhead or the Ogre.

Trivia[]

  • The Keybrand is based on the Keyblade, a weapon used in the action role-playing game series Kingdom Hearts. It bears an uncanny resemblance to the Keyblade named the Kingdom Key, which is the default, signature Keyblade wielded by the series protagonist Sora.
    • The Keybrand's visual effects when striking enemies are likely a reference to similar bright effects that appear when striking enemies with the Keyblade throughout the Kingdom Hearts series.
    • The Keybrand's critical hit damage modifier is 13. Thirteen is a special number in Kingdom Hearts, which means how much people conform "The Organization XIII".
    • The Keybrand deals a maximum of 150% additional damage for a total of 250%. This is a reference to the name of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMix.
  • Despite being a key, it does not unlock anything.
