The Minimap displays known areas around the character beyond screen display.
Maps types can be selected in the full inventory screen (default Esc.) with the 4 buttons provided beside the Health Points: Full Screen Map, No Map, Corner Map, and Overlay Map. The type of minimap shown can be cycled (default Tab) between corner, overlay, and no map. The Full Screen Map can also be opened with with the M key (default). All map keys can be changed in the Map Control Settings.
This map removed control of the character and displays a scroll with a map of the explored areas. It is accessed by pressing "M" Key (default). Unexplored areas will show up black. The map can be zoomed in and out with the NumPad +/- keys or with scrolling on a mouse wheel. Click the map to drag it to other locations or use WASD to pan.
Appears in the top right corner, below Health Points and beside Mana Points. The map can be zoomed in and out with the provided plus and minus buttons (or the NumPad +/- keys), set to "Default View" (the distance the character can see) with the "equals" button, and be made more or less transparent with the Page Up and Page Down (defaults) keys or with NumPad 9 and 3 keys.
Appears over environment and character. The map can be zoomed in and out with the NumPad +/- keys and be made more or less transparent with the Page Up and Page Down (defaults) keys or with NumPad 9 and 3 keys. Unexplored areas are fully transparent at all times.
The Maps will only show blocks that have been explored by the player, and will show them as the lightest they have ever been seen. Blocks will be colored close to their predominant color and have no texturing. Player Characters and NPC's will show as heads. Mobs do not appear on Maps.
The full screen Map will give extra information. Storage Containers and Signs will display their hover text, or the type (i.e. Gold/Jungle/Ice chest, Barrel, Trash Can, etc.). Heart Crystals, collectible plants, pots, Cobwebs , many Furnitures, Statues, Mechanical Items, Torches, Doors, Rope/Chain, Gems, Crystal Shards and Ores will display hover text of their type.
If the full-screen map is completely zoomed out, one can see that it's located on a background, which varies depending on the biome in which the player is located.
On the mobile version, maps can be opened by pinching in.
Mobs will be shown as a cross on the map.
