The Parallel World is a Jungle-like dimension with caves
, Meteor Fall, and prehistoric-themed enemies. A Parallel World can be created by using a Time Portal in any normal world. This will create a new file entitled "Parallel World" which cannot be accessed using the World Selection menu.
To re-enter a Parallel World, you must use the Time Portal again in a normal world. The same Parallel World cannot be entered twice. Therefore, building is not recommended.
WARNING: If you try to enter the Parallel World via World Selection menu which will fail, then try to enter a normal world, the normal world will eventually have buggy textures, or the world could be deleted (backup is recommended before entering the Parallel World). To fix this, you must exit Terraria completely. Simply exiting the map and re-enter will not work.
Parallel Worlds are small worlds composed entirely of the Jungle biome, save the outer reaches, which contain the Ocean biome. Small meteorites fall constantly, littering the surface with Meteorite Ore and Lava. Floating Islands, Dungeons, and Natural Buildings such as Underground Houses generate.
Deep chasms populate the world, reaching down several hundred feet each. Far below the surface, Shadow Orbs are found in abundance. At the bottom of the world is the Underworld, which is composed mainly of Mud Blocks instead of Ash. Underworld Houses spawn near the surface, rather than in the Underworld.
An event called Meteor Fall exclusive to the Parallel World may occur randomly, causing miniature Meteorites to fall constantly. When a Meteor Fall is about to occur, the following message will appear:
- Meteors are falling down!
These meteorites are usually about 20 blocks in diameter, and may contain small amounts of Lava. A player can be struck by these small meteors, which act as Bombs in terms of damage. Due to the Meteorite Ore, Meteor Heads spawn consistently on the surface of a Parallel World.
