Mods
Comments400this wiki
Mods or modifications or modules are alterations to the game that offer items, non-playable characters, or features otherwise not present in the game. Mods are created by the community, rather than the developers, and usually must be manually installed by the user. It remains a mystery on why the developers don't actually put them in the game as an official update.
Some mods are standalone programs that take the form of executables, or modded files that replace the original game. Many mods do not operate independently and require a program called tConfig to operate. Below is a list of mods documented on the Wiki.

Client-side Mods
tConfig
- Note: tConfig has its very own wiki full of information about how to create, use and install tConfig mods. Please see the tConfig Wiki for further tConfig support.
tConfig is a program that allows its user(s) to add their own content to Terraria. It currently can properly program custom enemies, blocks, weapons, accessories and armor. Event, biome and map-generation/physics is not customizable yet with this program. Due to it requiring the Terraria Game Launcher, this program requires a legitimate copy of Terraria (purchased through Steam) to be able to be installed.
Server-side Mods
TShock
TShock is a server modification which allows you to summon different mobs, items, change the game time and lets you teleport to other players in the server. It also lets you spawn unlimited bosses and buff yourself or others.
External Tools
TerraFirma
TerraFirma is a mapping tool used to view the Terraria world, it allows you to see where all ores and chests are located, as-well as the contents of chests, you can also zoom in and out.
TEdit
TEdit is a modification as well as a mapping program that enables the user to create chests, blocks, walls and practically anything that comes to your mind. It also is popular because of its ability to create worlds without even starting Terraria (similar to World Viewer). Similar to TerraFirma, you can zoom in/out, see where ore and chests are located. Unlike Terrafirma you can modify how much ore you'll find and can add new treasure to those chests.
