The Slimy Saddle summons a Slime Mount: a friendly, saddled Slime the player can ride. The Slime offers increased jump height and movement speed, floating on water surfaces, and continuous auto-jump by holding the ↷ Jump key. It has a 1/4 chance of being dropped by King Slime.
Landing on enemies while riding this mount will deal 40 damage excluding defense to them.
Tips
- A player can easily get from the bottom of a large body of water to the surface by mounting the slime saddle as the mounted slime will float to the top.
- Fall damage is slightly reduced when riding the slime.
- Players fall at a very rapid rate whilst riding the slime. This can be extremely useful, as it allows you to travel down hellevators with great speed.
- A player can repeatedly bounce on an enemy to make quick work of it while taking no damage with a little precision.
- Bosses, such as the Brain of Cthulhu, can be defeated in a matter of seconds by occupying the small space between the boss and the ceiling, exploiting the infinite amount of times you can hit an enemy.
- This works exceptionally well with a Lucky Horseshoe when fighting Eye of Cthulhu. You repeatedly bounce on him, while you take no damage. When you reach the top of the world, you fall back down and repeat. Dungeon Guardians are similarly affected. By going into the Dungeon before killing Skeletron and while jumping, Dungeon Guardians will often spawn below you; the slime will jump on them indefinitely, invincible to the Guardian (which is, oddly, touching the player without doing damage, likely due to the stomp). This is a great way to earn Bone Keys, and can cap out the amount of Dungeon Guardians long enough for other players to go deeper than intended into the enemy-less, hazard-less dungeon. Said players should bring along their own slimes, ridden at all times for safety. Occasionally a Dungeon Guardian may bug or respawn and kill the player on the original slime, in which case they will generally go after the lower players; this strategy does not work when the Dungeon Guardian comes in from above (rare, but possible) and is thus risky and unreliable at points. The player will take damage once a ceiling or the top of the world is reached.
- The Cloud in a Bottle's double jump ability works while riding the slime mount. The same goes for other double-jump accessories.
- The slime does not benefit from the damage or crit chance bonuses of banners.
- The slime does benefit from increases from minion damage (e.g. It deals 40 Damage without anything, but it deals 51 damage with a full set of Spider armor.
Trivia
- You fall roughly twice as fast while riding the slime than falling down without it. However, the stopwatch will still display 51 mph, the standard falling speed.
- If you die by fall damage while riding the slime you get the unique death message (Player name) didn't bounce.
