The Rocket Launcher is a Hardmode, post-Plantera launcher that fires explosive rockets. It has a 5.56*1/18 (5.56%) / 10.8*35/324 (10.8%) chance of being dropped by Skeleton Commandos, which only spawn in the Dungeon after Plantera is defeated. Its rocket ammunition can be purchased from the Cyborg, which similarly becomes available after defeating Plantera.
The projectiles of the Rocket Launcher are not affected by gravity, and leave a trail of gray and orange smoke before exploding upon impact.
Projectiles of the Rocket Launcher deal double damage on direct hits to a single target.
Its best modifier is Unreal.
Its best modifier is Godly or Demonic. Both modifiers increase the average damage output by the same amount.
Notes[]
- All rockets deal splash damage that will harm the player if fired too close. They will not damage other players unless PvP is enabled.
Achievements[]
Robbing the Grave • “Obtain a rare treasure from a difficult monster in the dungeon.”
Category: Explorer
Tips[]
- Using the Rocket Launcher with Rocket IIs, Rocket IVs, or Mini Nuke IIs
, it can be used for efficient terraforming.- When used with Rocket IVs or Mini Nuke IIs, the tunnels created by the Rocket Launcher are wide enough to completely cut off Corruption, Crimson, or Hallow. It should be noted, though, that thorny bushes can still grow in the remaining tunnel, spreading their respective biome over it.
Trivia[]
- The function of a direct hit dealing double damage and that particular phrase being used in its tooltip may be a reference to Team Fortress 2, in which the Soldier class has an equipable rocket launcher that does more damage on a direct hit, fittingly named the Direct Hit.
- Unlike most rocket-firing weapons which use their own custom projectiles, all of the Rocket Launcher's projectile sprites are identical to their inventory sprites.
