While fighting a Snatcher, a ranged approach may be more preferred, as you can simply stand out of its range and fire arrows at it. You can use a sword to take it out, but that opens you up to damage.
Like the Man Eater, the Snatcher can be killed by destroying the block it is attached to, but you will not get any loot. The Snatcher is in the background layer, and can move 'through' walls to attack you.
Despite the fact that almost all weapons cannot attack through walls the Snatcher and the Man Eater can be attacked if they are inside a wall.
Notes
Edit
- This monster can easily be killed in tight spots or underground by use of a Trident, Spear, Vilethorn, or the Dark Lance since these can penetrate walls and attack it even if it is not reachable by means of any other weapons. Caution is still necessary since it can lure you in, then suddenly grow in length again.
- Unlike the very similar Man Eater, which is usually found underground, the Snatcher also cannot retract itself as much as the Man Eater and does not have as much health and defense, making it much easier for low- to mid-level players to kill.
Trivia
Edit
Despite it having re-colored areas, upon death, the Snatcher will leave the same remains as a Man Eater.
Update Info
Edit
- HP reduced to 60 from 100.
- Now drawn above tiles rather than below them.

- Immune to knockback.
- Added to the game.

a snatcher found underground
This was done to a Man Eater, but works just as well with a snatcher. This may take a bit, but is safe and always worth it to those who risk a lot
