Spears
Comments19this wiki
Spears are much like Shortswords since both strike through infinite targets in a straight line extending from the player. However, Spears can be aimed. Most players prefer Spears over Shortswords (even though the Shortsword does more damage) when fighting Zombies or a Goblin Army. Any Spear will outrange a Shortsword and can also hit the same target multiple times. These can be more useful against worm type enemies as every segment passing through the speartip will take damage, this is also safer as you do not have to be quite as close to the burrowing monster, yet you can still rack up damage. It won't damage enemies through walls except for those which can go through walls (Man Eater, Meteor Head, and all of the Burrowing Monsters). Like flails, these can attack normal enemies through platforms. When facing several enemies that fly, it is recommended to use a different weapon. The best prefix that can be applied to a spear (as of 1.1.1) is Godly.
There are 7 (Since 1.1) different Spears starting from the lowest tier to the highest.
| Spear Name | Speed | Damage |
| Spear | Slow | 8 |
| Trident | Slow | 10 |
| Dark Lance | Fast | 27 |
| Cobalt Naginata | Average | 29 |
| Mythril Halberd | Average | 35 |
| Adamantite Glaive | Fast | 38 |
| Gungnir | Fast | 42 |
Spears are affected by increases in melee attack speed (Such as the bonus given by the Shadow Armorset, as well as the Molten Armor's melee attack bonus.

Notes
Edit
- Spears are best used for fighting multiple monsters or monsters with multiple sections.
- Flying monsters such as Bats or Demon Eyes can be quite hard to hit with a spear, especially under pressure.
- Moving toward an enemy while attacking with any Spear weapon (with it angled correctly) allows for multiple hits, ranging between 3-5.
