Limits[]

I do believe limits are 25 ore blocks in range of 31 in every direction. Anyone patient enough to check? Barhandar (talk) 05:21, 12 October 2013 (UTC)

Correct depth requirements (resolved)[]

Has anyone gotten this to grow in the Underground level? I made a farm just below 0ft and it doesn't seem to be growing. Other places I've looked claim it needs to be Cavern depth or lower... 24.59.187.79 08:43, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

I tried it in four locations on a medium sized world:
High in the Underground layer (126 feet below) - didn't grow
Middle of the Underground layer (306 feet below) - didn't grow
Low in the Underground layer, a bit above the graphic transition (708 feet below) - grew
High in the Cavern layer, under the graphic transion (758 feet below) - grew
Since it doesn't appear to grow in most of the Underground layer, it should probably be changed to save people some time (I excavated a space for a farm at 126 feet, only to find it didn't work).

In my small world I had no growth at 10 feet below and good growth at 150 feet below, which is in my small world just above cavern level.--62.45.0.213 17:35, 21 October 2013 (UTC)
Set up a few more farms at various depths on my Medium world - it grew at 334 feet below but not at 318 feet.

I too seem unable to get it to grow in the Underground layer. Not sure if this article is wrong about that or what. --67.176.95.1 02:14, 23 October 2013 (UTC)

Hey y'all, I looked at the sources and updated the article to state "underground jungle". Dtrauma (talk) 23:19, 23 October 2013 (UTC)

could anyone please test which depth i need to grow it on a large map, in wont have the probelm of digging out to high areas for nothing, as i want to have it farmable deep down in my cellars ( i already have 3 floors containing mannequins for each armor set in the game, equiped 2/3 of them, 11 flooors whit space to store each monstewr banner in the game 3 times ( i love banners, so i have them hung up alphabeticly, and each part i have 3 banners, rest goes into a chest ) so i wont be having unused space this way, but knowing how low i have to build befoe it starts growing would be fine ( or at least knowing wheter to put my chloropyte farm above or below my crystal shard farm at least ) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Crackmore (talkcontribs) at 18:00, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

Hey guys I'm setting up a farm and I've got ore growth happening despite only having only a few squares of jungle grass. Maybe the original spawn requires jungle but further growth doesn't? people seem to know this cos the page images don't have jungle grass but the page made me think I needed it — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.181.205.76 at 11:50, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

Growth Outside of Jungle[]

The article says, "Once hardmode starts, Chlorophyte Ore will start to grow, converting Mud and Jungle Grass into more Chlorophyte, and there is also a small chance for Jungle Grass to quickly spawn Chlorophyte Ore in Mud within ten tiles distance. However, all of this only occurs at the Underground Jungle level." This would seem to suggest that chlorophyte only grows within the jungle, which as far as i can tell from all other sources is not true. 67.85.116.221 02:57, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

I assume it was meant to say "spawns naturally". Chlorophyte will initially spawn in the Jungle unless the player moves it. - 24.183.58.176 11:33, 26 February 2014 (UTC)

mushroom or not mushroom, that is the question[]

we seem to have to contradictory statement:

"To make it easier to grow chlorophyte ore in mud squares, use glowing mushroom seeds on the surface of the mud"

" Chlorophyte Ore cannot spread over Mushroom Grass, despite it technically being mud with some growth. "

either one og them is false, or i did not understand what is precisely means. anyway, it requires explanation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.69.241.244 at 14:28, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

I have a Chlorophyte farm near a mushroom biome, only the bottom deposits are growing because half of my farm was in the mushroom biome (that is before I Clentaminated it). Ninjaboy3827 (talk) 01:11, 3 April 2019 (UTC)

Bugs[]

I was unable to reproduce the mining of chlorophyte with an adamantite drill on PC 1.2.4.1 can anyone provide more details on this bug? Maybe a jungle biome near spawn point?--CurseUO (talk) 06:27, 18 October 2014 (UTC)

Growth behavior, number of close seeds[]

It would be interesting to know how the growth behaves. We have information about the maximum number of ore blocks in a certain distance from each other, but 1) does it grow faster if there is more than one adjacent block to the seed? And 2) Does it grow faster within one area if there are two seeds? - Practical example: Farms in proper distance, consisting of simply 24 mud blocks, 2x12 blocks. Is that shape any disadvantage in regards to growth speed? And would it speed up growth to put two seeds in such a patch, one on each end? --87.144.18.224 09:13, 28 November 2014 (UTC)

Growing[]

I watched a video and it said that if you surrounded chlorophyte ore with mud, it will grow. I play on the mobile version and I tried it but it doesn't work. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheTerrariaBossDudeMan (talkcontribs) at 21:41, 1 December 2015 (UTC)

From my personal experience, Chlorophyte Ore grows abnormally slowly on the mobile version. You can check the guide page to see if you're doing something wrong, but otherwise there's not much you can do besides being patient and maybe requesting a change on the forum. –KM100 (talk) 22:40, 1 December 2015 (UTC)

Attacking?[]

When I fight enemies near Chlorophyte, it looks like green thorns are shooting from the ore to attack the enemy. This all started when I got the leaf crystal Chlorophyte set. What is it? Ninjaboy3827 (talk) 01:09, 3 April 2019 (UTC)

Forum confirmation of converting dirt to mud. Dunno range.[]

In this post, it's stated that as of 1.3, chlorophyte can convert nearby dirt to mud. It's described as "a pretty wide area", but doesn't specify an actual range. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 05:03, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

On PC version PC 1.3.5.3, that limit is five tiles. I have updated the article to include this and some other facts regarding spawn, spread, and conversion mechanics. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 04:00, 18 August 2019 (UTC)

1.4 - new Chlorophyte limit check?[]

This page: https://terraria.gamepedia.com/Chlorophyte_Ore#Protection suggests a 71x71 square centered on the active tile (so a radius of 35 tiles) is used to measure ore around the active tile, and the maximum is 40 ore.
This page: https://terraria.gamepedia.com/Guide:Farming_Resources#Chlorophyte_ore states 70x70 square (although it's written as range of 70, which implies a radius instead), and 41 ore max.
So one of these pages got it wrong. Also, if the 71x71 really is the new square, than the distance between "farms" should be 35 tiles, not 38 as suggested on the Farming guide page.
Can someone please check it out?
