wait you said if we defeat at least ONE SKELETRON HEAD we could enter the dungeon, shouldnt you make it so this guardian is more forgiving, like you could yield loot out of every guardian you killed? isaw a record on youtube of one lets player who didnt know the old mans appearance and got instantly killed, i saw the results with several others and our results were anonymous "this is dishonorable, unfair" we didnt even know that we were at the dungeon, and when 1.0.5 came along we thouht it was more forgiving, we recorded and traversed the hard work of the distortion of the corruption zones, we tried to beat the skeletron heads at night, and then suddenly the dungeon guardian rains on our parade, to make matters even worse, sometimes we use the dungeon as cover from skeletrons attacks for more space, but now we cant even enter it!

The Dungeon Guardian was created to stop people from defeating the Skeletron heads, which is an easy way out. If you want to get into the dungeon you have to beat the real Skeletron.--Cobaltcakes 15:11, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
If you went to the big scary-looking dungeon as a noob, and was instantly slaughtered by a giant skull and sent back to your spawn point with your tail between your legs, isn't that an effective clue that you're not ready to enter the dungeon yet and should stay away? The point in the guardian instantly killing you and being effectively immortal is to make it impossible to explore the dungeon without first beating skeletron. I mean honestly if you were instantly killed the first time and decided to try again as soon as you saw a new update, I get the feeling you're not very fast to take a lesson. 78.105.8.153 00:11, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

hello? i have defeated skeletron once and I know it bc I have 2 dungeon keys. i killed skeletron and left the world once, but when I came back to the world, I went down the dungeon a second time, the guardian killed me. is this a glitch?

cmon now this is not a monster.you could just have the dungeon page mention it and remove it from the monsters category

before i knew a bout skeletron i thought you had to go in the dugion to meet him.it was day so the old man was not in his form so when the gardian attacked me i thought skeletron was impossible to beat.


a real scar to my life[]

i found a chest.i had to get rid of something to put a flame lash in my inventory.i tried to click dirt (250).but actualy clicked gold platebody and a gaurdian slaughterd me and i dropped the platebody.now i know this is not a big deal.but i was a noob.the piece took me weaks to get,and i spent the next twenty days digging for gold patches.

Damage[]

In version 1.2.0.3.1 I still take over 9000 damage from touching one of these, but the page says it should be more like 900. I also saw damage of over 4000 dealt to the guardian from my Turtle Armor, so it seems this exploit still works for me. Is this a bug? --ZeroKitsune (talk) 00:14, 11 October 2013 (UTC)

It's the same here, I have a feeling that this is like EoW's Blend-o-Matic 'fix', where they say they fixed it but haven't.

strategy[]

I've uploaded an image (here) which shows a way to do this. It's simply a stairway going from the Dungeon depth at which Guardians Spawn to the skybridge, consisting of Asphalt Blocks (like the skybridge) to prevent the Guardian from catching the player. Turtle Armor Exploit (Console)[]

How do I check the current Console version? Oh, whatever. As of the date of this posting (which, if I'm not mistaken, is added to my signature) the Turtle Armor exploit does not seem to work as the page says it does. Not in the dungeon[]

It seems that you can be killed while innocently poking around in the caverns (mobile version). I was not in front of a dungeon wall. In fact I didn't realize I was near the dungeon until that bugger came out of nowhere. Oh well, it's no worse than explosives. Possible bug?209.169.104.182 03:21, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

Not head AI[]

The Dungeon Guardian is not head AI because of the head AI description. It says occasionally moves toward player as the Dungeon Guardian always moves toward player. And it says tries to stay above player as the Dungeon Guardian goes directly for the player. New AI type should be added. Radikid (talk) 14:37, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

Guardian not spawning[]

I destroyed the entrance to the dungeon on one of my worlds (don’t ask), and now regular dungeon enemies spawn below surface level, even though I never killed Skeletron on this world. Is this a bug? Two4one99 (talk) 20:46, 10 July 2018 (UTC)

Dungeon Guardian Bestiary Entry and Stats[]

Hey so I recently killed a dungeon guardian in a master mode world in order to get its stats and bestiary entry. I've included a link to an imgur upload of the page here so you all can see it. In case you don't want to click the link (or its just not working or something) the master mode stats are 29997 health, 3000 damage, and its bestiary entry is: "A lethal sentry that stands watch over the Dungeon's gates. Journey mode[]

By far the easiest way to defeat this is by going into journey mode with an autoswing weapon, activating godmode, and putting a weight on your mouse. Obviously, this only works on desktop.

DG and Skeletron Trivia inconsistencies.[]

The Dungeon Guardian page says "Originally, Skeletron head protected the Dungeon, but killing ALL of them would allow access to the Dungeon." Skeletron page says "Originally, Skeletron heads protected the Dungeon, but defeating ONE of them would grant access to the Dungeon."

This error has been on the wiki for as long as I've been here. It's about time someone fixes it, but I don't have an incredibly old copy of the game to test it. 172.249.169.192 22:27, 24 June 2020 (UTC)

I have killed so many of these[]

Using the slimy saddle exploit, I killed over 200 of these. this was before 1.4. I killed one in my first modded play-through(The mod was thorium). It's drop was one of my first pet items in journey mode. Killed one in eternity mode. I even got the extra boney energizer. In total, I killed over 300 of these.

DG = Debug[]

okay, i just think DG's are just debug enemies with some kind of reward.
