The magic lantern has a glitch with the Hades dye: 
(Hades dye is a special dye gotten from the dye trader sometimes when you turn in strange plants) I have tested with other special dyes.

Another way to obtain this in Journey Mode is to wait until a full moon (or create a new world), and use the time stop feature in the time menu.
