How much damage?[]

The article completely fails to mention how much damage Spikes deal to players. It would be useful information. -- TechpriestMagos 23:01, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, -1 damage isn't very helpful. --NullTalk 23:14, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
I think we should remove all of the "-1" damage from all the pages its on. It appears that someone took some info from the games coding where any item that doesn't have an attack has damage set at -1. It's absolutely pointless bit of coding most likely added to prevent errors. --Moxxy 15:51, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

Monsters taking damage from Spikes[]

Why don't monsters take damage from spikes? it would make a great monster trap. I think that they don't take damage so that in the dungeon those enemies don't take damage from them since the spikes are everywhere, though the developers could make it so that everything takes damage from spikes but that the Angry Bones, Dark Caster and Burning Skull don't take damage from it. --Josiah 07:58, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

I think they don't because it's more of a dungeon challenge for us. So it would be kinda silly for just anything to take dmg from it I think. -- ❤Kalilla❤ 08:02, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Layout Images[]

Does anyone else think this article could benefit from a few images showing how placed Spikes would look? It mentions making elaborate decorations, so anyone not having experienced the wonders of Spike placement first-hand would likely be quite curious. (I just might make a few images myself later on, when I have the opportunity.) -- TechpriestMagos 22:18, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

"One of the few items that is immune to lava"[]

I see a few problems with this. For one, every item of greater than white rarity is immune to lava, which is hardly a "few items". But also, why does spikes being immune to lava allow you to create useful traps? No trap would involve the spikes ending up in item form, so the lava immunity doesn't even matter for this. And thirdly, spikes are not even immune to lava. Like every other white-rarity item, they are destroyed when they enter lava. I'm removing the sentence unless anyone can provide an explanation for what it means. Xolroc (talk) 18:01, 10 June 2014 (UTC)

"40 damage to players"??[]

I have the full tiki set on, and the armored fishron wings. I have 38 defense, yet I am still taking around 20 damage per hit from regular spikes. Is this "40 damage" incorrect, or do spikes get affected by defense differently? When I unequipped everything, I took the listed 40 damage. I was under the impression that damage reduction was subtractive, not divisive. If I have 38 defense, shouldn't they deal 2 damage instead of 20+?- 68.117.21.124 03:56, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

As listed on the Defense page, you should divide defense by 2, before subtracting it from the damage. So you would receive around 40-(38/2)=21 damage. --0icke0 (talk) 08:29, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

It can be destroyed with an explosive?[]

Im currently trying it in a game, and neither bombs nor dynamite will work for destroying the spikes. Can anyone else verify this?
