The GPS is an informational accessory that enables an on-screen display of the player's current depth, lateral position, and time.

Depth is displayed as follows:

• On the  PC version of the game, depth is measured in feet, with one tile equaling two feet.
• On the  Console version, depth is measured in meters, with two tiles equaling one meter.

Tips

• Selling the GPS is more efficient than selling its separate parts (20 for Gold Watch or 30 for Platinum Watch, 20 for the depth meter, and 25 for the compass).
• Also, it is possible to have the GPS simply sit in your inventory, because it does not need to be equipped to function.

Trivia

• GPS stands for "Global Positioning System", which in real life is used to track the user's location.
• GPS in the real world work by receiving time-stamped messages and comparing them with the present time, which is perhaps reflected in the need for a clock to craft.
