Comments and Editing
Edit
Hey I saw you're doing a lot of editing over on the Known Bugs And Glitches page. Thanks! Just wanted to say that you don't need to make comments about your individual edits. That's what edit summaries are for =)
I'd say it's probably best just to make 1 comment if you feel it's necessary to let others know that you're editing stuff and being helpful. Otherwise, try to mainly stick to edit summaries so you don't bog down the page with a million comments.
Also, it's not really a huge deal... but, if you can, try to make big edits where you make a ton of changes in a single edit, rather than publishing a series of smaller edits. Keep up the good work!

- Hi, thanks for the tips.
- Just finishing with the page, one final edit and two comments incoming. I think the Category:Needs Attention can be removed now. I went ahead and did it, but if you feel the page needs more fixes feel free to put it back and someone else will take care of it (eventually).
- The comments I left are about things I didn't fix because they need discussion. And when I'm removing content I feel it is polite to keep a copy of it on the talk page (which this wiki doesn't seem to have) in case it can be re-added by someone more creative.
- I can't make huge edits, I tried. I use the preview feature a lot and that page is too big for comfortable previewing the entire thing. And the edit diffs are bad enough already. Especially when I added the titles. (Notepad++'s diff function is much more usable.)

RE: Talk Pages
Edit
Hmmmm. Technically talk pages are there, e.g. Talk:Known Bugs And Glitches, but they're not linked to the page at the top like comments are. I'm guessing the reason for this is because comments have to use the Talk namespace or there's just not enough editors to warrant Talk pages for each page, or something. I just kind of accepted that there was some administrative reason behind it and never gave it a second thought. But, now that you raise the issue again, I think I'll ask Gracey about it.

- I know one issue is accidental griefing, where newbie users blank the talk page, overwriting dozens of discussion topics with their often just one liner comment. Since not many people are there to revert such vandalism, talk pages are a lost cause on smaller wikis. Comments are much, much harder to grief and need to be done intentionally by a somewhat tech-savy person. In my opinion, talk pages, while missed occasionally, are better off being hidden. 3ICE 01:00, January 17, 2012 (UTC)
- That's a good point. But I think it'd be better to have vandalized talk pages than to not have any at all. The thing is, we'd only really need to use talk/discussion pages for a very few content pages around here. Ones that have a ton of content, need to be consistently updated, or are particularly important. Also, and I'm not sure if this is legal under TOU, but I think that on this wiki, these talk/discussion pages should be permanently protected so that only registered users could post on them. Anyways I already asked Gracey about this, so we'll see what he says.

- You are welcome. By the way I am on User:Gracey91's side, not yours. And, I can't wait to see how this ends. Just know that you can't ban him from everywhere. (I added a generic section header (titled "Re: ") above your message to conform to the wiki standards.) Good luck! 3ICE 17:40, January 28, 2012 (UTC)
- its not a side because there isnt a vote. i built this wiki by sending traffic back to it from youtube if he thinks it is better to have videos posted that do no promotion of the wiki then he is wrong his goals are just to mess things up because he was mad at me a week earlierHeroGaming 17:44, January 28, 2012 (UTC)
- You don't link to the wiki from any of your videos either. At least from the ones that I've watched. And I have been shadowing you for weeks.
- (I added two colons in front if your message to conform to the wiki standards.) I knew you were tyrannical, I knew it! 3ICE 17:51, January 28, 2012 (UTC)
Discussions
Edit
Discussions about our wiki's video policy and administrative structure going forward will be started tomorrow (Wednesday afternoon/evening) by Sannse. Discussions will use a regular content page--which will basically be a forum with comments. The page itself is for detailed discussion, comments are for the rest of the community who don't feel comfortable with the forum format. I'm sending this message out to some key members of the community here so that they're notified. Let's have a polite and productive conversation.
