HeyEdit

Nice to see you active again. Mathmagician is now a bureaucrat, while Dak47922, The Pathogen, and myself are now administrators. HeroGaming, whom is no longer active, demoted you a while back due to inactivity, though you are still eligible for reinstatement via the current nomination process. Other Wiki Policies also underwent some heavy revisions if you want to check those out.

Thanks, Dzylon  Talk  08:36:32  May 03, 2012

Hey and thanks! Yeah, I've read about a lot of the changes made since I was last active. I knew I was going to get demoted when I went inactive, so that's no problem, but I'm now planning on staying active for quite some time again. I see there has been a lot of conflicts going on, and it especially saddens me to see that Gracey is no longer active. He was of massive help to both me and the wiki.
HHHHHLeet-PeteHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH03:31, 5/4/2012HHHHH
I went ahead an archived your talk page for you, per your message. I figured it would be faster that way. I'd prefer not to add an exceptions to the filter for individual users -- however, sysops of course bypass the filters. Speaking of which, would you like to receive your admin rights again?
My personal opinion goes like this:
    • Inactive admins should not have their rights removed (unless requested), as they aren't causing any harm by merely being inactive.
    • You've done a lot of good here and are a trusted member of the community, and were demoted merely for being inactive.
    • I think it's perfectly reasonable for you receive admin rights again, bypassing the full nomination process in this special case.
Of course, it's not just up to me though. Let me know if you'd like to see your rights restored, I'll chat with some other admins over the next couple days to see what their opinions are. — Mathmagician talk blog 03:49, May 4, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, nobody was really happy about Gracey's departure. He has been quite helpful to me as well in the past. Despite all the conflict, the wiki is now stable again, so there's not too much to worry about. Either way, we're certainly glad to have you back. :)
Oh, and I wasn't aware that you had maintained your rollback rights. I've added the appropriate tag to your profile masthead and restored your username hilite.
Per Math's message, I too wouldn't mind bypassing the nomination process in a case like this. Dzylon  Talk  03:53:34  May 04, 2012

Thanks, I appreciate the support, guys! And yeah, I'd very much like to receive admin rights again. I just got back from inactivity, but I've already noticed that the admins and others with special rights seem to be both communicating and working well together this time around. Keep up the good work, this looks promising!

Admin Rights Restored Edit

Hey Leet-Pete, per consensus between Dzylon, Pathogen, Dak and myself, I have restored your admin rights. We look forward to working with you. Dzylon, Path and myself usually chat on Steam about stuff a few times a week, Terraria or otherwise -- Pathogen's steam is listed on his profile and you can find the rest of us on his friend's list, if you'd like to communicate that way. Of course, Special:EmailUser/Mathmagician and talk pages are available as well. If you have any questions or anything don't be afraid to ask. But, having been an admin before and had a little bit of time to get back into the community, I'm sure you know the gist of things. — Mathmagician talk blog 23:40, May 7, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks, now my assistance on the wiki is less limited again. I look forward to working with you guys too. To be honest, I prefer to keep Wikia seperate from the other things I do on my computer. But don't worry, I check in regularly to see if I have new messages, checking recent wiki activity and stuff like that, even if I may not always be editing, so I'm quite active. If there's something we can't discuss publicly over talk pages, or if it gets too cumbersome using talk pages, there are alternatives:
  • I can come into the wiki chat - just leave me a quick request at my talk page.
  • I can be reached at e-mail: peter_112@hotmail.com (don't worry, it's already spammed down, and I have another address for personal matters and whatnot at gmail.)
  • If none of the above are good enough, I can always start using Steam again and add you. I actually haven't played any video games for a while (haven't even tried v1.1 and later versions yet) as I'm working on getting rid of my gaming addiction, which pretty much had taken over my life, until recently.

Manual of Style Edit

I want to work on fixing up some of the policy pages, starting with the creation of a proper Manual of Style. Here's a rough draft, your feedback is appreciated. — Mathmagician talk blog 02:39, May 8, 2012 (UTC)

New nomination Edit

I have nominated Dzylon for receiving bureaucrat rights on the Terraria Wiki. If you'd like to, you are encouraged to participate in the voting process here: Terraria Wiki:Admin and Bureaucrat Nominations. Thanks!

Tiles Images Edit

Hey there Leet. Just a note as to the "Tiles" images that I thought I'd mention: they are intended to be left full-size, to show how big they are in-game. This can be illustrated here, here and on the bookcase page too. Just thought I'd tell you. :)

User:The PathogenUser talk:The PathogenUser blog:The PathogenThe Pathogen-Signature Image
Thu, 17 May 2012 22:02:20 +0000
OK, but has this been discussed earlier? And why don't we just add in the info about how many blocks high and wide they are?
HHHHHLeet-PeteHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH09:08, 17 May 2012HHHHH
It has been here, though the last post was a while ago now, heh. As always, I'm not at all willing to engage in an edit war, especially not with another admin; so I thought I'd clear this up as soon as physically possible. Also, Math did put his PoV in on this matter, just not in that post.
User:The PathogenUser talk:The PathogenUser blog:The PathogenThe Pathogen-Signature Image
Thu, 17 May 2012 22:14:03 +0000
The only thing mentioned about resizing/not resizing tiles images in that forum thread is the following from Dzy: Very tall images like that of the Breaker Blade, which is 80 pixels in height, can be effectively halved without losing quality. Which is pretty much my POV too. I'll see if I find more of these discussions.
HHHHHLeet-PeteHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH09:43, 17 May 2012HHHHH
The idea was that original sprites could be halved for use on pages, while tiles images would not. We added tiles images to infoboxes long before the discussion about sprites began. The tallest tiles image is that of the Grandfather Clock, which is only 22 pixels taller than the infobox image, so it doesn't really increase infobox size much. The reason for this is that most sprite and tiles images differ quite a bit (see Bookcase for an extreme example). We intended to show users the appearance of furniture items both in the inventory (sprites) and in placed form (tiles). Dzylon  Talk  11:17:53  May 17, 2012
Yeah, I see what you mean, but I still think tiles images could be resized as long as the height and width of the respective item meisured in blocks is specified in the article. That's more useful than judging size from an image anyway. Now that I "undid" my edit, the Lamp Post is the tallest tiles image - it's kinda aestethically displeasing imo. :P
HHHHHLeet-PeteHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH11:55, 17 May 2012HHHHH

┌────────────┘
Oh, I hadn't thought of the Lamp Post. In my opinion downsizing the tiles image of that item should be fine, as long as the actual size is specified (like you said). Now that I think about it, I would rather all furniture pages list the actual width and height in blocks (infobox parameter?).

For the Lamp Post, I think the tiles image would look best at 14px wide, though that's open to discussion. I don't think I see any other pages that might benefit from smaller images. Also, I'd like to point at that this discussion was directed towards the use of sprites themselves, not tiles images. I don't think a discussion regarding tiles images was ever held on the wiki, but we could have one if you don't like the current system.
Dzylon  Talk  04:51:46  May 17, 2012

Yep, an infobox parameter for size sounds good. That's fine, it's not such a big deal after all.

Souls Redirects Edit

Hey there Leet. Just informing you, all of these redirects were made so as to lessen page size and link complexity for editors. They've been up for a while, so I thought I'd list the six of them for you, is all;

Hope it's no trouble. 20px-New_brs.png  Pathos | Talk Page | Mon, 21 May 2012 - 12:30 UTC

I know about the redirects, and I'd appreciate it if you wait for my reply before undoing my edits, in cases like this when I haven't done an obvious mistake. You freed up 15 bytes from using the redirect instead of the direct link. That's not even 0.015 kilobyte. And regarding link complexity, this is one of the most basic forms of wiki markup. Plus, noone needs to do anything about the code, as it's just as it should be. When you click a redirect, you get the "Redirected from..." note on top of the page, plus the address says the name of the redirect instead of the article. This can be confusing to some, and is more better aesthetically without.
HHHHHLeet-PeteHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH14:18, 21 May 2012HHHHH
I'm siding with Leet here. Every time I come across an unnecessarily used redirect, such as Souls of Flight, I pipe it so as to prevent users from seeing the redirect notice. In my opinion, that's not how redirects are supposed to be used. Dzylon  Talk  02:24:54  May 21, 2012

Note Edit

I've edited your comment here. If you find a user's comment to be offensive, you may delete it. But please try to reply in a polite (and not condescending) tone when correcting others, thanks =) 20px_Rin_Tohsaka_Avatar.png Mathmagician ƒ(♫) 00:54 UTC, Thu, 24 May 2012

Sorry, I just got a little bit fed up with people posting rude comments. Especially when they are completely wrong about the topic of discussion - it's ridiculous. I'll correct them in a calm and polite manner the next time. ;)
HHHHHLeet-PeteHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH01:12, 24 May 2012HHHHH
I understand, there's a lot of off-topic or rude comments sometimes. Feel free to delete them where appropriate. If it's a continuing problem with a single registered user, you should leave them a talk page message/warning. If it's an IP, I would probably just wham the comments. But I'm glad to hear that you'll try to keep it calm, that's a very good demeanor for an admin to have in my opinion! 20px_Rin_Tohsaka_Avatar.png Mathmagician ƒ(♫) 05:38 UTC, Thu, 24 May 2012
Yeah, I do delete comments when they contain swearing, name calling, harassment/flaming, counter-productivity etc. But in this case, I didn't find it offensive enough to delete, so I'd rather correct the person. Plus, they might learn something from it when I reply instead of delete. Thanks for reminding me to keep it calm. It won't be a problem in the future. :)

I'm sorry, you're right. You do need 200 base mana to be able to buy it. I fixed the article again. Thanks for asking me and for adding this correction.

Hey,

You probably got this question a lot of times, but I don't know the answer.. yet :P

I was just asking myself if it is possible to become an admin on this Wiki. I don't want to become it now, but if there any requirements for it, I'll probably get them in a few months. Since some days ago I've become an active member of this Wiki and edit some articles. Don't expect me to leave if I can't become admin, I'll just stay a very active user then :D. I just wanted some information about it.

Thanks in advance

Hyradd 17:01, June 18, 2012 (UTC) Hyradd

Hey Hyradd. It's good to see you're taking interest in the wiki and in editing it. To answer your question; yes, it is possible to become an admin. Admins are "recruited" through a voting process by nomination. Anyone can nominate a user for receiving admin rights, but it's not allowed to nominate oneself. You should read the Admin and Bureaucrat Policy for more detailed information. Additionally, an admin should know the Terraria wiki's policies very well. If there's anything else you need help with, or have any questions, I'll be glad to offer my assistance. Good luck getting there! :)

Dr.elisey Edit

Hey, I noticed you said you removed an image from Dr.elisey's profile. I just wanted to point out that Dr.elisey is an administrator of the Russian Terraria Wiki. We've traditionally allowed him some leniency with the Image Policy etc. for that reason and also because of the language barrier. I don't have any problem with you enforcing the policy, but I thought I'd just say that I personally favor a bit of a more tolerant approach so as to maintain good relations (and not get into a silly argument via google translator =P) 20px_Rin_Tohsaka_Avatar.png Mathmagician ƒ(♫) 01:09 UTC, Sun, 01 July 2012

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll wait for his response before deciding what to do next. If any complications should occur, I'll let him re-upload any images he may want on his profile to the wiki again.

1000th rank Edit

Hiya Leet-Pete

I was just wondering if i could have a special badge for being ranked 1000th on the Wiki Leaderboards. Kinda like the "Lucky Edit" badge, but "Lucky Points" badge or somthing.

Hey, welcome to the wiki! I'm afraid that's not possible; badge-creation is very limited, and you're actually not ranked #1000, even though it says so. It's just that all ranks past #1000 displays as "#1000." There is however a list of badges on your profile that you can try to earn.

Small note about your user page Edit

Hey there Pete, I see you added some code on your user page that adds a gradient. Just informing you that it doesn't show for Chrome users (of which I am one) though I'm pretty sure there's a form of the gradient code that can be added (that adds support for Chrome) on the web. Dzy and myself both use these types of double-codes to add multi-browser support for our sigs. Just thought I'd let you know. :)
20px-New_brs.png  Pathos | Talk Page | Mon 16 July 2012, 05:45

Profiles & stuff Edit

Hey, I wanted to do some profile-related enhancements to the wiki (looking for something new to work on :) and was wondering if you had any suggestions or interest related to this? In particular, I was considering the following:

  • Creating some Terraria userboxes: ("This user has hallowed armor." "This user hates Steam." etc.)
  • Updating MediaWiki:Welcome-user-page so that people have a cooler-looking default profile?

If you think this is worthwhile, or if you have other suggestions, please let me know! I'm still brainstorming at this point. 20px_Rin_Tohsaka_Avatar.png Mathmagician ƒ(♫) 19:25 UTC, Wed, 22 August 2012

My Own WikiEdit

Hey, I was wondering if I should make my own wiki or not. I've been thinking about it, and now that Google Chrome helps me edit and stuff, I might be able to manage.
