The Wooden Sword is a weapon that can be crafted with 7 Wood at a Work Bench. The Wooden Sword is the second weakest sword next to the Copper Shortsword and is the first weapon a new player should create since it is easy to craft and is a good weapon to protect new players until they obtain a stronger weapon. It is useful for fending off creatures that are dangerous at the start.

Although you spawn with a Copper Shortsword, the Wooden Sword can still be of use since it attacks in a swinging, arc-like motion, unlike the Copper Shortsword which stabs in front of the player. Additionally, the wooden sword does more damage. This weapon should be kept until the player gets another Broadsword, for example the Copper Broadsword or the Iron Broadsword, as broadswords are much more powerful and more useful than their shorter versions.
